To my lamp post

On the road of my life
i turn to see where it crossed
when i was feeling lonely
and in darkness i was lost
It makes me smile to think back
how your path crossed with mine
you showed me what my life could be
you showed me light and made it shine
I shall carry on along my well-lit path
that you created for me with such care
you might be gone, my lamp post
but to shine for me; you'll always be there
I've got my world
and you have yours
what you've given me
i'll never ask for more
